Diamond R Cattle Co. was started in 1992 with the importation of the 1st herd of Miniature Herefords to the state of Montana. |

 Miniature Hefefords were
developed in Texas by selectively breeding the old-fashioned type,
small bodied Hereford for a smaller size, instead of for the largest
frame size as with most cattle breeds. |

These little cattle when many
aspects are looked at from early maturity rates, weaning ratios,
carcass weights, etc. are far more practical and economical to use for
beef production than almost all of the modern larger beef breeds. When
you add the fact that these docile little animals can be stocked at
twice the rate of larger cattle they become the perfect cattle for
small hobby ranchers or backyard beef producers. |
| Since the early 1990's they
have become popular and are being bred from coast to coast as well as
being exported by embryo transfer to Australia and Europe. With their
own classses now at many of the major stock shows the future looks
extremely bright.
